What factors contribute to high accident rates in yachting?
The answer may not be as simple as ‘more boats on the water equals more accidents’. There could be other factors at play that are contributing to higher accident rates. For example, inexperienced boaters may have less knowledge about boating safety regulations and how to properly operate a vessel. Other factors that might contribute include overcrowded waterways, improper maintenance of vessels or bad weather conditions that can cause even experienced sailors to make mistakes.

Is the standard of seamanship dropping in yachting?
When it comes down to it, seamanship is essential when operating any type of vessel and especially when operating a yacht. But is there evidence to suggest that the standard of seamanship among current yacht operators is dropping?
