Bad Erlach | March 11, 2021: On board Superyacht MY Artefact, List General Contractor (List GC) got the opportunity to demonstrate its skills and did not disappoint. The interior outfitter from Lower Austria realised an innovative interior for the German shipyard Nobiskrug on an area of around 657 m2. The competence of the professionals to deliver solutions was specifically required for the acoustics. Now the luxury yacht is among the finalists in this year’s BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards in the “Best Motor Yacht Interior Design” category.
Timeless and modern, a harmonious interior refined with decorative individual pieces of furniture, a hybrid propulsion system as well as green electricity from the photovoltaic system: the 80-meter luxury yacht MY Artefact is anything but ordinary. The sophisticated, innovative interior design becomes clear in the three-dimensional forms of the furnishings, in the wall and ceiling panelling, and in the free-hanging elements – all of which bear the hallmark of Pascale Reymond from the renowned Reymond Langton Design studio in London. More than anything else, the designer was thrilled and inspired by the luxury yacht’s extensive use of glass. In total, about 750 m2 of glass weighing almost 60 tonnes was installed. This gave rise to some exciting challenges for the interior fit-out. A task for which German shipyard Nobiskrug, relied on the experience of the interior outfitter from Austria.
List GC created the furnishings for most of the interior spaces on board MY Artefact, totalling around 657 m2. This included the entire family deck including owner’s suites and salon, living and dining areas as well as the onboard cinema. List GC also fitted out the Tai Chi room, the gym, the bridge and the captain’s areas, among others.

Creating this innovative architectural design by Pascale Reymond required our full expertise and implementation strength. This allowed us to bring the owner’s wishes to life in the best possible way while still creating an impressive living experience.”
The high-end interior in detail
Precision work for optimum sound
The acoustics on board the yacht were one of the biggest challenges due to the spacious, high rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass walls. For the perfect acoustic experience, ingenious solutions were needed for many of the pieces of furniture and panels. The specialists from List GC developed special substructures depending on the respective surface. A 3-layer special ceiling skin structure comprising baseboard, 3D milled acoustic foam and acoustic fleece was created. Holes were made in the supporting panels, the surfaces were individually perforated and adjusted to refine the acoustics. At the same time, attention had to be paid to the three-dimensional design of the interior when creating the substructures. Due to the various shapes of the panels, the support materials also had to be curved and milled to create the required shape.
Clever combination of technology and surface
The acoustics also played an important role in the choice of surfaces. The material had to be applied so as not to impede acoustic absorption. The joining of surfaces to substructures was therefore a decisive aspect of the planning for List GC.
Impressive 3D effects and extravagant bespoke furniture
For example, the wave-shaped panels made of leather on the ceilings, were another special feature and give MY Artefact’s premises an individual touch. The eye-catcher in the main salon is the wooden ribbed ceiling. As well as this, List GC also processed bleached maple for the walls, which was assembled into wave shapes with narrow 3D panels to create a remarkable sculptural effect.
In the bathroom of the owner’s area, the interior competences of List GC become clear through the partially freestanding furniture in front of the full-height glass façade. The furniture is completely three-dimensional and offers a few technical refinements. The freestanding tables on the bridge of the yacht were also a welcome challenge for the specialists of List GC. The entire technology is elegantly tucked away inside.
Refined use of surface details
High-quality veneer, fine leather, marble, gold-plated details and sophisticated special surfaces with special coatings – MY Artefact is replete with extraordinary surfaces. A special detail on board MY Artefact can be found on the family deck. Here, the design concept is rounded off by three-dimensional writing desks that are above all noted for being finished with quilted maple veneer and a special surface of “liquid metal”. For the bathroom, List GC mainly installed white stone with grey veins. A special eye-catcher: the blue agate used as a feature on the wall. This is a crystalline stone that was cut into fine slices and embedded into transparent epoxy resin. This makes it translucent and particularly emphasises the lighting elements behind it.
