Savannah Yacht Center has gained an international reputation as the refit, repair and maintenance shipyard of choice on the US east coast. The deep-water facility has been purposefully designed to provide superyachts with a first-class service, covering the full scope of refit and maintenance needs.
Savannah Yacht Center’s founding philosophy has resolutely stayed the same: respect and confidence needs to be earned. And earned it they have, as the string of high-profile superyachts to have come through the yard illustrates.
The Center was refurbished in the latter part of 2019 and the modern shipyard now has the ability to host multiple yachts in excess of 60m side by side, and offers over 366m of floating dock for in-water service.
The shipyard is owned by the Colonial Group, one of the largest privately held companies in the United States. The multigenerational, family-owned company takes a visionary approach, with a focus on service and integrity. Guided by an entrepreneurial spirit, great importance is placed on building lasting, mutually beneficial relationships by consistently providing exceptional customer service and seeking innovative ways to forge new opportunities for customers, partner companies, and the local community.
Several of the industry’s most iconic vessels have chosen Savannah Yacht Center for their refits and maintenance work, with the 68m Aviva (Abeking & Rasmussen) and a 78m Abeking & Rasmussen, as well as a 92m Feadship and 73m Turquoise-built superyacht amongst the client list. Yachts to have undergone works at Savannah Yacht Center more recently include 74m Mogambo (Nobiskrug), 63m Lady Britt (Feadship), and the 96.25m Limitless (Lurssen).
"The cornerstone of our success is our founder’s commitment to building a company with a reputation for unquestionable integrity and service,” comments the Center's Vice President, Jim Berulis. “While our facilities and operations have become decidedly more modern, our corporate philosophy has remained the same: to be successful, you must always earn the respect and confidence of those with whom you do business. That belief is not only the bedrock of our successful past but also the foundation of our bright future."
Service facilities at Savannah Yacht Center include a 140m dry dock, a shiplift and rail transfer system for vessels up to 3,240 gross tons, as well as multiple warehouses and workshops for machinery and fabrication.
Savannah Yacht Center’s paint and refinishing services are provided in collaboration with Pinmar, just one of the best-in-class affiliates the Center has aligned themselves in partnership with.
For crew, Savannah Yacht Center offers a hospitable array of amenities. As well as the crew lounge, gym and fitness centre, there’s also a bar and bistro restaurant on site. Visiting crew benefit from discounts and offers from local businesses just two miles down the road in downtown Savannah, and excursions can be easily arranged through the shipyard’s concierge service.
Savannah Yacht Center is located just minutes from Savannah’s Historic District and lies on the Savannah river, approximately 32km up river from the Atlantic Ocean. Savannah itself is famous throughout the world for its southern hospitality and charm, and has been declared one of the world’s friendliest cities by Condé Nast Traveller. The city has a vast array of museums, monuments and art galleries, with a bustling cultural scene. In the surrounding area, visitors will find world-class golf courses on Hilton Head and Jekyll Island, pristine beaches along the Georgia coast, and renowned southern cuisine throughout Savannah and the Low Country.
